So I just spent a week in the Rockies with my Aunt (who lives there). It was great. I flew into Calgary and took the airporter to Banff. She had gotten us a room at the Rim Rock Resort, very fancy schmancy. She was already in a fluffy robe when I got there and had wine and treats. It was great to catch up. The next day we went for a hot tub, then a swim and got ready for the day. Had a fantastic breakfast in Banff, did a little shopping. We went for a hike to some ice falls. Discovered 'icers' then snap onto your shoes so you don't slip when walking on ice or snow, I must get some! We picked up the cross country skis I'd need for later in the week. Then we headed for Field. We made a great dinner then went to visit some friends. The next day we decided that I should get a hang of this cross country skiing thing. We went to Emerald Lake and did about 10 km of skiing, I found out that I suck at cross country skiing. It was so cold that the snow was feather light, I really liked it. The next day we headed to Lake Louis to meet up with the rest of the gang that would be going on out adventure with us. We were heading into the Mountains. It's an 11 km ski to Skoki Lodge. It's a great lodge built in 1930, catered and everything! So we head in, it's a beautiful day. We stop along the way, take photos, enjoy each others company. Did I mention it's uphill almost the whole way? We got there about four hours later. It's is a great lodge nestled in the Rockies. I feel like I'm getting the full Rockies experience. We have a great dinner. The next day we head out on smaller ski trips. I get a huge blister so I can't go out again in the afternoon. That night we have another great dinner but I start to not feel so good. Some of the staff have been sick. I never get sick so I totally don't think it's the flu. Then it hits hard at 9:30. Did I mention there is not running water and we have out houses... and it's -20. Fun times. Five hours of violent sickness I finally get some sleep, but get woken by the rest of my crew getting sick. We are so weak in the morning that we have to get skidoo'd out instead of skiing. My aunt and I get home and I hit my bed, sleep forever, get up, have a bath, go back to bed. The next day we feel a bit better and go snow shooing around Emerald lake. Our friends own the store there and we agreed to watch the store while they went out, it was kinda fun. We both get an early night because we are still really run down. The next day we head to Calgary via Banff. Fantastic Trip!
